Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Wins 28th SIES Eminence Award

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma was honoured at the 28th SIES Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Eminence Award ceremony in Mumbai in 2025.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma received the “Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi National Eminence Award” from the “South Indian Education Society” in Mumbai on 13 December 2025. He was honoured for his in public leadership, job creation, and land reform, and for his efforts in making Assam stronger, faster, and more progressive.

Dr. Sarma dedicated his award to the people of Assam. He wrote on social media, “This honour belongs to the people of Assam and our shared efforts to build a stronger, faster, and progressive Assam.”

He also congratulated other award winners, including BrahMos pioneers Padma Bhushan Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai and Padma Shri Dr. Prahlada Ramarao, respected philosopher Dr. Mani Dravid Shastrigal, and Mumbai’s famous Dabbawalas.

About Himanta Biswa Sarma

Himanta Biswa Sarma is an Indian politician and the 15th Chief Minister of Assam. He was first elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly in 2001 from Jalukbari constituency. He was previously a member of the Indian National Congress (INC), and later joined the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) on 23 August 2015.He also serves as the Convenor of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), contributing to political coordination across the northeastern region.
