Nara Chandrababu Naidu, popularly known as CBN is an Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He holds the record as the longest-serving chief minister in the Telugu States.
Naidu is also the national President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which was founded in 1982. He represents the Kuppam (Chittoor) constituency as a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, where he was consistently won with a large majority of votes.
Nara Chandrababu Naidu was born on 20 April in Naraavaripalle, a small village in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, into a middle-class family. His father, N. Khajura Naidu, was a farmer, while his mother, Amanamma, was a homemaker.
As there was no school in his village, he walked daily to Seshapuram to attend primary school. After completing his primary studies, he joined the Zilla Parishad school in Chandragiri, where he studied up to the 9th standard.
For higher studies, Naidu moved to Tirupati, completed his 10th standard, and later graduated in 1972 from Sri Venkateswara University. He went on to pursue a post-graduation in Economics at the same University and earned MA degree in 1994.
In September 1981, Chandrababu Naidu married N. Bhuvaneswari, a businesswoman who is the managing director of Heritage Foods Limited (HFL) and the managing trustee of NTR Trust. The couple has one son, Nara Lokesh, who is a politician and the current MLA from Mangalagiri constituency in Andhra Pradesh.
In 1992, N. Chandrababu Naidu established Heritage Foods Limited (HFL), which soon grew into a leading dairy company in India. The company went public in 1994 and quickly became a major name in the dairy sector, by the financial year 2021-22, Heritage Foods recorded an impressive annual turnover of Rs. 26,429 crores, placing it among the top-performing dairy enterprise in the country.
Governor of Illinois, Jim Edgar, officially declared September 24, 1998 as “Naidu Day”. The proclamation was issued in recognition of Naidu’s leadership administrative reforms, and his efforts in promoting technology driven governance.
N. Chandrababu Naidu earned the nickname ‘CEO of Andhra Pradesh’ because of his strong focus on technology and governance reforms, as well as his data-driven approach to administrations, international media and business circles offer referred to his as the ‘CEO of Andhra Pradesh’.
N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his tenure as chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh in the late 1990s, he personally convinced Bill Gates to set up the Microsoft India Development Centre in 1998.
Nara Chandrababu Naidu is recognised as the longest-serving chief minister in the history of the Telugu States. He is currently in his fourth term (2024-2029), after previously serving as chief minister in 1995-1999, 1999-2004 and 2014-2019.
