N. Chandrababu Naidu began his political journey at a young age when he joined the Indian National Party (INC) during his student days. In 1978, at just 28 years old, he won his first election from the Chandragiri constituency and became one of the youngest ministers in the Andhra Pradesh Government.
In the early 1980s, after the rise of N. T. Rama Rao and the formation of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Naidu shifted his political base and joined the TDP around 1983.
In 1989, Naidu contested from Kuppam constituency for the first time and won. Since then, he has continued to win from Kuppam in every election, making it one of the strongest TDP bastions.
In 1995, Naidu became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the first time. He served two consecutive terms from 1995 to 2004 and became one of the longest-serving Chief Minister of the state.
After facing setbacks in the 2004 and 2009 elections, Naidu made a strong comeback in 2014. Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, he became the Chief Minister for the third time and led the newly formed state.
In 2024, Naidu returned to power once again and became the Chief Minister for the fourth term, making a major comeback in Andhra Pradesh politics.
