Vishnu Deo Sai started his political journey in 1989 as a Village Panch(Council Member). He was then elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for two terms on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket from 1990 to 1998. After this, he moved to national politics and served four consecutive terms as the Member of Parliament (MP) from the Raigarh Lok Sabha constituency between 1999 and 2014.
In 2006, Sai became the State Party President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Chhattisgarh. During his political career, he also worked as the Union Minister of State, handling important ministers like Steel, Mines, Labour, and Employments.
Later, in 2023, he was elected as a member of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly from the Kunkuri Constituency. After this victory, he became the 4th Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh.
