Pratibha Patil, whose full name is Pratibha Devisingh Patil, also known as Pratibha Patil Shekhawat, is an Indian politician and lawyer. She was the first woman President of India and served in this role from 2007 to 2012.
She started her political career at the age of 27. In 1962, she was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Jalgaon constituency. She is a member of the Indian National Congress (INC)
During her long political career, Pratibha Patil served in many important positions. She was a Member of the Legislative Assembly, a Member of Parliament in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, and also the Governor of Rajasthan from 2004 to 2007.
She also held several ministerial posts in the Maharashtra government, including Social Welfare, Education, Urban Development, and Health. At the national level, she served as Deputy Chairperson and Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, and Chairperson and House Committee of the Lok Sabha.
