Sanjay Dutt is well-known Indian actor and film producer. He has played many different types of roles in popular movies like Rockey, Khalnayak, Vaastav, and Munna Bhai MBBS. He mainly works in Hindi films, but he has also acted in a few Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and Punjabi movies.
He started his acting career with the film Rocky in 1981, which was directed buy his father, Sunil Dutt. After that, he faced a tough time in his career, but movies like Vidhaata, Naam, and Thanedaar kept him in the limelight between 1982 to 1990. Later, he became a big superstar with hit films such as Sajaan, Khalnayak, Daag: The Fire, Haseena Maan jaayegi, Vaastav, Munna Bhai MBBS, and Lage Raho Munna Bhai. These films made him very popular across the country.
In April 1993, Sanjay Dutt was arrested under TADA and the Arms Act for keeping illegal weapons linked to the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts case. He was convicted in 2007 by the TADA court and later in 2013 by the Supreme Court for possessing illegal arms, including an AK-56 rifle.
He was given a five-year jail sentence and was kept in Yerwada Jail in Pune. Dutt completed almost four years of his sentence and got early release for good behaviour. He was finally released on 25 February 2016.
